Last night we got our first-ever actual (non-Charlie-brown-sized!) Christmas tree. At over 7 feet tall, we have a lot of decorating to do! The kids are finally getting old enough to enjoy doing crafty things, so I popped around to some of my favorite sites this morning to get some inspiration for making our own ornaments. Here are some of the goodies I love the best:

Salt dough ornaments via Filth Wizardry.
Pompom Snowman and Pipe Cleaner Snowflakes via Martha Stewart
Super-Simple Paper Stars via Annekata
Felt Ball Garland via Oh Happy Day
Origami Hanging Decorations via Mini-Eco
What is your favorite holiday DIY?
Leave a comment with a link if you know of a great tutorial!

Awww these are all SO CUTE!

I JUST blogged about those paper stars this morning, too -- the tutorial looks really easy so I'm excited to try them! The moms group I'm in is having a holiday craft night on Friday, and I'm looking forward to having an opportunity to get my craft on. :)
ReplyDeletechris and i love to make pomander balls with oranges and cloves, and we string popcorn and cranberries for our tree...kind of traditional but so pretty. also, this year we dried sliced oranges and made some garlands for our widows. easy peasy. you slice up a bunch of oranges thinly, put them on a cookie sheet in the oven at a low temp (175 or 200) for 5-7 hours until nicely dried, and then string them on twine or ribbon. we also hung a bunch of individual slices on our tree, and they look so pretty when they are hung in front of the lights. little glowy fruit gems! here's a good tutorial: http://flowerpatchfarmgirl.blogspot.com/2010/12/orange-garland.html
ReplyDeleteAwesome! O and I did salt-dough ornaments too! We love them, except they look so much like cookies that I get hungry! :-) We got the recipe/instructions from the site playathomemom3.blogspot.com. I find the activities/crafts do-able... other sites kind of overwhelm me.
